The divided church
A divided kingdom or a united kingdom under God? A Call for Unity in the Church
2 april 2014
As a new believer in the Messiah Yeshua one of the most troubling things I noticed are the enormous divisions in the church. At first I thought that as a new born I should not say anything, because the church has existed for thousands of years and pastors have preached for many years. They have trained for this, they have studied theology, discussed the words over and over again. Who am I to talk about the church as a new member? But everyday this division seems more and more evident, and I am confronted by it and I must speak up. Everywhere I go I hear Christians saying: “We have the true doctrine. Join us, we are the rightful heirs. The others are wrong.” Protestants, Catholics, Reformed, Baptist, Methodist, evangelical. In a way it reminds me of the seven churches of Revelation and the twelve disciples, and the twelve tribes of Israel. These numbers represent not just a story, but also the story of our souls and they show that there are many different kinds of people in God’s Kingdom.
So I prayed and asked Jesus to show me what he thinks about this. And this is what he taught me. We are all part of his kingdom. Many different towns, with one king. But some towns have made their own rules, to try and control the people. Some towns fight with each other, and think they are right. In some towns local rulers have set their own rules, not allowing its citizens to talk to the king himself. Human nature and the darkness try to grab the power in the towns. But the people in the Kingdom must wake up! For we have a mutual enemy and he is very busy, roaring like a lion in the world, looking who he can devour, which towns on the edge he can attack. We must get ready to serve in the Kings army.
Then I fell asleep and in the night I heard the following words: “In my fathers house are many mansions”. I later saw that it is also a scripture (John 14:2). This shows the state of the church today. Many mansions, but they are all part of God’s mansion. His house. In I John 4:1 it says “Hereby know ye the spirit of God. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus is the Messiah and is come in the flesh is of God.” There are many souls that believe that Jesus is the Messiah. He loves them all. He has saved them all from the darkness.. Catholics, protestants, Methodists, Baptists. His blood has cleansed them. Remember I John 4:15 “Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the son of God. God dwelleth in him and he in the father.” All these people claim that Jesus is the son of God.
However…. The kingdom is at war. We are not living in a peacetime situation. Townsmen, we need to get prepared. In peacetime, we have time to talk about our doctrines, but in war time we must unite under one king. STOP YOUR BIKKERING! And get ready. There is a spiritual battle going on. There is so much darkness all around and it is getting worse. Unite and stop fighting amongst yourself. The king loves you all and he is alive.
So ask yourself: Can the king use you? Do you have a relationship with the king or with the people? is the spirit moving you? Does your church allow you to have a personal and free relationship with the king? Or does it tell you when you can talk to him and how? Our king wants a personal relationship with each individual. He is not looking for high placed people. In fact he even said: “”Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Our king is not racist. He does not prefer one over another. He wants everyone in the same way. The main question is: “Do you have a personal relationship with him or is another human being putting himself between you and the king, telling you what to do? Making rules. Telling you what, when and how to worship.
Right before he died Jesus prayed for all his disciples: “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John 17:21)”. That means we are one in him. He also said. That people would recognize his followers by the love they have for each other.
If you do have a relationship with him, then the Holy Spirit can live inside you and he can move you and use you. Others will also be able to see it by the fruits of the spirit and by the gifts he has bestowed on you. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23”Jesus also said: “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Are these things following you? They should. The Holy Spirit is real. God is a supernatural God. All these things are still relevant today. That is how you recognize the followers of Jesus.
This morning I prayed about this again. Then I remembered something I had read in the wonderful book I just received from my sister “Heavenly man.” It said something about clipped birds and the controlled church. I knew I had to find it. But how? It is a very thick book! I opened the book… and immediately it opened to the right page! (pg 54). On the top of the page it said: “The Lord started to teach me to know the difference between his church and the 3 zelf church in china.” Now this book is about an apostle of Jesus in China, who experienced many miracles, healings and visions. His experiences are extreme, but many things he learns from Jesus are important for all. He describes the state controlled church of China “They are like caged birds, whose wings are clipped.” The people are saved by Jesus, but they are led by man, men can be corrupt, evil. Men use religion for their own political power. They are molding religion for their own political power. Caged birds… yes they can sing to the Lord, but they are controlled. Their wings are clipped. They are free to sing only when they are told and to praise the king only when they are told. Man created those rules. Not God.
Though things are extreme in China many of these things can also be relevant to the churches across the world. Are you being led by God or led by men? Is the spirit filling you or just your pastor or priest? Can the members of your church hear the kings voice? Jesus said “My sheep will recognize my voice.” Birds confined in cages have a hard time reproducing. Is your church bearing fruit? Are there new members coming in? Are you allowed to preach the gospel whenever God tells you to or when man tells you to? Is someone telling you in your church how to pray and when? How dare they! God wants to speak with you personally. Every soul that his son has saved should be able to talk and commune with God, whenever they want.
To me, as a new believer in the Messiah Yeshua, I see too many caged birds. People controlling people. When the Holy Spirit lives inside his church… he can start moving people and get them ready for the war. Wake up townsmen… the king is coming. The battle will soon begin. Many Christians are saved from the evil one, but they are living enjoying life, resting in the material world. But the time has come that Jesus wants to use them! Let them have their own relationship with the king, and he can send them forth. Are they restricted to follow God by all kinds of rules made by man? God cannot be controlled! You are his vessel. Imagine receiving a real vision from God and then saying to him “Hold on, let me go ask my pastor if I can do that.” Jesus is the head of the church today! He wants to teach us personally. Each and every one of us.
So how do we do that? He himself said “Abide in me.” Listen to his word. Read his word. Pray and talk to him out loud. Ask him to fill you with the Holy Spirit so the spirit can teach you. Many Christians are afraid to let their personal relationship with Jesus flourish because they are afraid of false teachings. Afraid to be led astray. Like a sheep who is so afraid of the wolf that he freezes up and cannot follow the shepherd when he calls. Indeed we must always be on our guard and test each and every spirit. But do not let your fear of false teachers keep you from a personal relationship with the king. Keep close to him. Let his spirit guide you. Learn to trust in him.
Wake up children of God. Stop living bickering amongst yourself, and get ready. Get out of your comfort zone and let the Holy Spirit fill you so God can use you. For the Lord is coming. The battle has started. Stand up and grab your armor!
